Project Description

USAID awarded US$23 million contract to I-LED Consortium to implement a post-earthquake re-construction project in Bagh district of AJK and Manshera district of NWFP.  The first phase of the program covered emergency relief and re-construction.  In the second phase value chain approach was used to improve the livelihoods of the people by improving productivity of the existing livelihood chains and by linking these chains to national and international markets.

Services provided by APEX

Two years into the project implementation, the Consultants were asked to evaluate the impact of the livelihood programs through qualitative and quantitative means.  Household questionnaires were conducted in both the districts (300 total questionnaires) to collect quantitative data and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) was conducted to make a qualitative assessment.  Together the information was used to assess the degree of impact the I-LED interventions had on the livelihood of the beneficiary population in the post-earthquake period
