World Vision Pakistan has been strenuously working on child protection issues since the earthquake of 2005. After the successful implementation of the Manzil (Pilot) in Pirwadhai (Rawalpindi) intended to replicate the same approach in Kasur district with the working children (tanneries worker, embroidery worker, automobile worker, domestic workers, field workers and children working in shoe factories; including both boys and girls).
The services provided by the firms included data collection (both quantitative and qualitative) and data entry for a baseline. We conducted detailed 302 household interviews in Kasur, 6 Key Informant Interviews (KII) and 21 Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with beneficiaries based on the tools prepared in consultation with international consultants. Data editing was done by professional researchers and data was entered in Census Survey Program (CSPRO). After data entry frequency tables were generated for cleaning. Data analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and clean dataset was submitted to a client as an end product. Consultants compiled the key findings and presented the current situation regarding child protection including conclusion and recommendations.
