Project Description

The global polio eradication initiative going through a critical juncture and progress over the next year largely depends upon conducting high-quality campaigns that will reach every child with multiple doses of OPV. The quality of campaigns can be assessed by the use of a statistically rigorous sampling methodology that will ensure results are reliable and representative. The results of PCM will help facilitate and identify performance gaps to better plan for the subsequent campaign. The National Emergency Operations Center, with financial support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), technical support from WHO and in coordination with CDC and UNICEF, implemented comprehensive post-campaign monitoring across all districts in Pakistan. APEX is engaged as a third-party company to implement the PCM that had presences in all districts and previously implemented large scale surveys.

Services provided by APEX

APEX has conducted National Post-Polio campaign monitoring in 41, 72, 164, 76, and 164 districts in phases 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36 respectively. The main activities for this assignment were to collect, compile and enter the data on Vitamin A, BCG, Polio Vaccination, refusals of households, reasons of refusals, mark on the finger, visits of teams, the existence of floppy paralyzes, etc. In these phases, APEX conducted training at 25 venues/locations in each NID and 15 locations in each SNID across Pakistan, each NID phase, monitoring teams include, 1670 Area Field Officer/Enumerators, Zonal Field Managers, Zonal Field Officers, Internal Monitors, etc. APEX collected the data through handheld devices and the application was designed on the Open Data Kit (ODK) software.
