Project Description

Karandaaz Pakistan focuses on providing credit and capital to high impact small and medium-sized businesses, and business models that have potential to generate sustainable employment and offer attractive risk-adjusted financial returns through corporate Investment and credit. 

As a result, Karandaaz has been granting loans to Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's) with its three major partner institutions i.e. Bank Alfalah, Meezan Bank, and Orix Leasing Pakistan. The aim to create jobs especially for youth and women, to empower women and to develop business. That's way Karandaaz Pakistan plans to engage a third-party firm to assist in monitoring and evaluation of its Corporate Investment Credit (CIC).

Services provided by APEX

The firm put in place a team including 01 Team Leader, 01 Coordinator, 01 Data Analyst, and 10 Field Monitors for executing the assignment. APEX developed, tested, and translated quantitative and qualitative data collection instruments. To achieve accuracy and efficiency in collecting and collating data, team developed data collection protocols and procedures, and conducted customized training of field staff on data collection tools and protocols, each field monitor visited beneficiaries (SME's borrowers) located all over Pakistan to carry out third-party data verification. A total of 300 SME's visited for data verification in each quarter. The field team used tablet devices equipped with Open Data Kit (ODK) for the data collection on a real-time basis, data maintained electronically in a user-friendly format. Analytical reports were submitted to the client on a quarterly basis along with a quarterly progress report on project activities. The consultants also updated the economic model and held quarterly meetings with the client's MEL staff to provide project updates and present findings from the most recent data collection round.
