Project Description

Global Environment Facility (GEF) has provided funds to UNDP Pakistan for the promotion of Wind Energy in Pakistan. As a first step, the project office wanted to assess the baseline capacity of the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), and the Alternate Energy Development Board (AEDB).

Services provided by APEX

APEX designed the questionnaire for the three organizations and conducted interviews with the relevant staff of the three institutions to assess whether they possess the requisite technical and managerial capacity to promote utility-scale Wind Energy (WE) in Pakistan. The project also included identification of appropriate software and hardware for PMD as well as identification of 10 sites to install wind mast for wind measurement.
